Book Report Energy Leadership Pt 1 – quick link for those who missed part 1
Book report continued
I liked the story-telling and the flow of the whole plot. There are many wise sayings in the book that I can use to quote for myself and my clients. One of them can be found already in the first chapter:
‚Everything I do matters and everything I am matters even more. ‘
Bruce D.. Schneider
This quote made me think a lot about my coaching journey and even more about my life until now. The thought that my actions impact the world around me and myself as to how I am was moving. I like this thought and will remember it daily by putting a sticky note on my fridge. It is working like an affirmation. Especially, I like the use of affirming language because affirmations are powerful tools to change your mindset and intentions. Then the rest can align around those new thoughts, and change can happen. Change is also a central topic of the whole book.
energy leadership theory
The underlying theory about energy levels and their connection with leadership makes understanding the concept of energy leadership easy. The idea is focused on the interaction between leaders and followers, which makes a difference to conventional leadership guides. The whole story shows the importance of communication, energy, and awareness for people who want to be successful, charismatic leaders.
Highlighting boxes explain the essential facts at strategic places all over the book. They are very beneficial for the future and existing coaches who want to look up something. Especially for coaches, the boxes with the core energy techniques are a good tool for further references.
energy leadership For whom?
Not only coaches can benefit from the concept of energy leadership. Every reader can get something out of ideas in the book. Overall, the book can be helpful for nearly everyone who wants to improve their lives skills in any area. Therefore, I definitely would recommend reading Energy Leadership to my colleagues, family, and friends. I also would recommend this resource to my clients because I think it is an excellent addition to my coaching. Maybe they can grab the concepts of the program more deeply.
For me, the explanation of the energy blocks in real scenarios was great because it demonstrated the theory. The connection of the various energy levels with actions that people take in real life is fascinating. This made me think of my own experiences within teams or with family members. Regarding coaching techniques, I liked the sample questions and the assignment Richard was given. This procedure is an excellent guide for taking the theory of coaching into practice.
The visualisation of situations where the different energy levels show up is helpful for coaching practice and my own life. The more profound understanding of energy shifts increases my awareness of my own energy.
The most important takeaway is that energy levels affect every part of our lives.
